Artist's Comments

I finally had a couple of minutes to grab a screenshot of my fresh Ubuntu 9.04 install on my laptop... after almost an year of no new gallery submissions.

I think I finally found a colorful enough theme that my desktop doesn't look funeral-ish and doesn't resemble Windows or MacOS. And as long as Compiz is off I can get a decent 2 hours 50 minutes of battery life with a 4-cell battery under pretty heavy load (I get 2h tops in Vista with virtually nothing of use running - 1h45 in powersave mode with some load, still in Vista). It's probably the best Ubuntu install in years, so far I found Fedora and/or Suse (even older versions of Linux Mint - older than Ubuntu's current one) easier to use and set up... and I still do, but 9.04 is overall best for me at the moment.

Details:
GTK theme: Dust
Icon theme: Meliae-Dust (from gnome-look.org)
Wallpaper: The Midnight Sun (from Isilmetriel, here on DA - link: [link])

I haven't had the time to setup a Conky but I will soon... Any other questions about anything are welcome :)

Looks pretty nice :) It looks light and functional - which is all you need from a work computer. Mine has a little more, but it's a desktop which is used primarily for mucking about.

Thanks, yours reminds me of my older setups... elegant brit is probably the best theme I've ever had :)
